Scientific Production of Iran in 2011

Dr. Mehrad, president of the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology, describing the status of Iran’s scientific production in 2010 and 2011 said that Iran, Turkey and Singapore have respectively produced 25, 36 and 205 scientific articles per 100000 individuals. <br/><br/>According to Dr. Mehrad, Iranian scientists have published 400 articles in the international accredited journals during the first 15 days of the new year. <br/>

Turkey ranks first in scientific production among the Islamic countries. This country has produced 25710 scientific articles in 2010. The scientific production of Malaysia, Egypt and Saudi Arabia has respectively been 6287, 6090 and 3669 articles in 2010.

Dr. Mehrad said that Iran constitutes 1 percent of the world population. It also produces nearly 1 percent of the world scientific production. Statistics show that Iran has produced 18319 scientific articles in 2010 which is 24 articles per 100000 individuals. Iran’s population amounts to 75000000 individuals. Turkey with nearly the same population has produced 25710 scientific articles in 2010 which is 36 articles per 100000 individuals. Singapore with a population of 5000000 people has published 205 research articles per 100000 individuals.

President of the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology declared that the scientific development of each country is measured by the number of articles produced by the scientists and researchers of that country. In this regard, South Korea and Singapore have both a great share of the scientific and industrial development despite the shortage of natural resources.

Dr. Mehrad said that the rise of scientific production of the Iranian researchers would particularly evolve the country’s political and economic relationships with other world countries.
