The Second International and Thirteenth National Conference of Quality Assessment in University Systems at RICeST and ISC
“The Second International and Thirteenth National Conference of Quality Assessment in University Systems” was held at the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology (RICeST) and Islamic Science Citation Center (ISC) on June 12 and 13, 2019.
Based on the reports of ISC and RICeST Office of International Scientific Cooperation, in the opening session, after recitation of Qur’an and listening to National Anthem of Iran, Dr. Dehghani, ISC and RICeST president, welcomed the guests to the conference. He gave his speech on “Qualitative and Quantitative indexes for Evaluation and Ranking of Universities and Higher Education Institutions in Iran” on the second day of the event.
In this conference, in addition to the local scientists and university rectors, Nigerian, Malaysian, Turkish, and Pakistani ISC Executive Committee members attended and presented their speeches.
Dr. Asma Ismail, as one of the keynote speakers in this international conference, had a speech on “The Impact of Quality Assessment Methods in Universities of Malaysia on the Quantity of Scientific Research in this Country” on the first day of this event. Admitting the importance of scientific evaluation of universities and scientists, USM rector declared: “Despite having a large number of international students and a good position in global ranking systems such as TIMES and QS, Malaysia and Malaysian universities have their own special evaluation system and do not pursue the indices and factors of western countries.”
She added: "Malaysia looks beyond ranking systems. Globalization is of high importance to Malaysia, but in this country, not only the scientific developement of the country, but also ethical and personality aspects of its next generation are paid attention to."
Dr. Azhar Ali Shah’s Presentation entitled “Status of Quality Assurance and Ranking System in Pakistani Universities” was also done on the first day of the conference.
