Iran Science Production Still Rising/ Growth in Research Quality

Iran scientific production in publications and in terms of quantity, quality and international participation in Clarivate Analytics, ISC ranking shows that during the last two decades a constant growth has been recorded. It continues with a unique acceleration the world rankings, especially among the top 20 countries in the world.

In particular, paying attention to the qualitative dimension of Iran science production in recent years is very important. In 2019, the share of Iranian science production in the world was about two percent. Meanwhile, Iran's share of total science production in 2019 in the region is about 29% and among the Islamic world countries is about 20%.

The results of the studies show that the total scientific productions indexed in Scopus in different years was 630768, of which about 409060 (65% of total production), has been produced in a very difficult condition of sanctions against Iran. Also, the total number of available scientific documents indexed in WoS and during the last 120 years is equal to 540530, of which about 361244 documents (66%), are related to recent years (2013-2020).
