ISC ranking by subject 2020 published

ISC Department of Universities Ranking, after nearly a decade of successful national ranking of universities and research institutes, as well as the ranking world universities and institutes among the Islamic world, and according to valuable experiences in this field, has been recognized as the only ranking authority inside Iran. In 2020, and for the first time, it ranked the world's universities based on subject areas. The first version of this ranking, called ISC World University Rankings by Subject, was published in 2019, and this year, for the second year in a row, it has made this ranking with minor changes in methodology. The methodology and results of this ranking are given below.

Methodology

In ISC WUR by subject, the OECD hierarchical division scheme has been used. In this scheme, all subject areas are divided into six main categories and 42 subcategories (which are eventually excluded from 3 subcategories). The six main categories in this project are: natural sciences, engineering and technology, medical and health sciences, agricultural sciences, social sciences and humanities.

In ISC Ranking by subject, the target universities in each subject area are the ones that are among the top 700 universities in the world in terms of the number of publications in that area, published 150 documents  in each subject area in a three-year period.

The universities announced in the ranking in each subject area will be announced in a conclusive manner and also based on the continent, country, etc. ISC ranking by subject is based on three general criteria of research, international activity and innovation, which due to its importance, the research criterion has the most weight.
