Office of International Scientific Cooperation, July 5th, 2023
The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings list the world’s best universities that are 50 years old or younger.
Among 605 universities that are included in this ranking, the number of Iranian universities among the young and best universities in the world is 39. Meanwhile, 5 universities of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, Babol University of Medical Sciences and Qom University of Medical Sciences are among the top 100 universities in the world rank 65, 76, 87, 92 and 100 respectively. This is despite the fact that in the previous year's ranking, only two universities from Iran were among the top 100 universities in the world.
Since the initiation of this ranking in 2012, only Sharif University of Technology has been present in this ranking until 2016, and since 2017, it has withdrawn from this list because it has been more than 50 years old. Major Iranian universities, such as Tehran University, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz University and other universities that have listed in other Times Higher Education Rankings, are more than 50 years old and therefore cannot be included in the ranking of young universities.
