ISC WUR 2023 Released

ISC World University Rankings (WUR) is one of the ranking systems that was carried out for the first time in 2018 with the aim of evaluating the Iranian universities as well as the Islamic countries in the world. There are 2,555 universities from 114 countries and 6 continents in ISC WUR 2023, of which the I.R. of Iran has 69 universities.

ISC WUR Methodology

In order to rank the world universities, ISC evaluates them using some definite criteria which include research (60%), education (10%), international activities (15%) and technology and innovation (15%).

Also, the number of retracted universities have been calculated with a negative score called Negative Reputation, while this negative score can also affect the ranking of these universities and these can cause the university's rank to descend.

In ISC WUR 2023, universities that have registered at least 850 documents from 2019 to 2021 in Web of Science have been considered. This this ranking information has been collected from USPTO, WOS and InCites databases.

The World Universities in ISC WUR 2023

In ISC WUR 2023, there are 2555 top universities from 114 countries and 6 continents. In this ranking, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University are ranked first to third. The top ten universities in the world can be seen in table number 3.

China with 398 universities, America with 321 universities, India with 148 universities, Japan with 120 universities, England with 101 universities, Turkey with 93 universities, France, Germany and Brazil each with 73 universities, Iran and South Korea with 69 universities, Italy with 63 universities, and Spain with 62 universities were present in this ranking.

IN ISC WUR America ranked 1st, England 9th, China 15th, Denmark 16th, Canada 17th, France 19th, Japan 27th and Singapore 29th.

Asian Countries in ISC WUR 2023

In ISC WUR 2023, China with Tsinghua University (rank 15), Japan with Tokyo University (rank 27), Singapore with National University of Singapore (rank 29) and South Korea with Seoul National University (rank 45) are the best universities of Asian universities.

Islamic countries ISC WUR

In ISC WUR 2023, there were 377 universities from 29 Islamic countries in the ranking, of which Turkey with 93 universities and Iran with 69 universities were the most present.

Among other Islamic countries, Pakistan with 29 universities, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia with 28 universities, Egypt with 25 universities, Indonesia with 18 universities, Morocco with 12 universities and Nigeria with 11 universities are included in this ranking.

Among Islamic countries’ top universities, Saudi Arabia (107), Qatar (351-400), Lebanon and Pakistan and the UAE (451-500), Iran, Egypt and Malaysia (501-600) have been ranked.

The presence of Iranian universities in ISC WUR 2023

69 universities from I.R. of Iran are present in ISC WUR 2023, while last year 63 universities from Iran were present in this ranking. Chart No. 2 shows the presence of Iranian universities in 6 years ISC WUR 2023.
