ISC IWUR 2023 Released
The presence of 80 universities from I.R. of Iran among 499 universities of Islamic countries
ISC’s Islamic World Countries ranking 2023 has been released by Islamic World Science and Technology Monitoring and Citation Institute (ISC), and among the universities of 57 Islamic countries, a total of 499 universities from 33 Islamic countries are included in this ranking.
In ISC IWUR 2023, universities that have recorded at least 500 documents from 2019 to 2021 in Web of Science (WoS) database have been put in the list.
Due to the fact that many Islamic countries’ universities are not included in ISC WUR, ISC IWUR can be the basis for specifying the position of each university among Islamic countries by showing the weaknesses and strengths of the universities based on each criterion. The setting and policy making of universities should be placed in this ranking.
The ranking of universities in IWUR has been done by ISC since 2018, which can be seen in chart 1 of the number of universities in this ranking.
The top 10 universities in this ranking are from the countries of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Malaysia, Pakistan, Lebanon, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia is among the top 10 universities ISC IWUR 2023 with 4 universities and the rest of the countries with one university each.

Islamic countries’ universities in ISC IWUR 2023
Among the 57 Islamic countries’ universities, a total of 499 universities from 33 Islamic countries had the conditions to stand in this ISC IWUR 2023.
The largest number of universities belong to Turkey, Iran and Pakistan, which have 122, 80 and 47 universities in this ranking, respectively.
The status of other Islamic countries in terms of the number of universities in the ranking is shown in Chart 2.
