ISC to Develop Cooperation with Iraq MOHESR

The second joint meeting of the Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Dr. Zulfi Gol and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi was held on June 29th at Iranian MSRT headquarter in Tehran.

This meeting was held with the presence of a high-ranking delegation including Iran’s MSRT minister, Prof. Zolfi Gol, his senior directors with the accompany of ISC president from one side and the Iraqi team, with presence of Iraq’s minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi.

In this meeting, Prof. Zulfi Gol explained the progress of the agreements of the first meeting, the formation of the committee Joint scientific cooperation between Iran and Iraq and explaining the follow-up of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides.

The Minister of Science, Research and Technology also enumerated the supporting capacities and capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the field of science and technology from the friendly and brotherly country of the Republic of Iraq and supported the admission of students and faculty members of Iraqi universities in the form of scholarships, exchange of experience in establishment and operation of science and technology parks and providing services of ISC in ranking Iraqi educational and research institutions, indexing of scientific documents and publications.

The ISC president, Prof. S. Ahmad Fazelzadeh, introduced the activities and outputs of ISC among the Islamic countries and listed the capacities of cooperation with the Republic of Iraq MOHESR.

In the following, Dr. Naeem Al-Abudi, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Iraq, while thanking the efforts made in the development of international scientific interactions between the two countries, explained the status of the cooperation process, especially the great potential and the golden opportunity of a significant number of Iraqi students living and studying in Iran.

He also invited the president of ISC to participate in a joint meeting with directors and policy makers of Iraqi science and technology, as well as holding specialized workshops in ranking, publishing and indexing journals.
