The results of QS World University Rankings 2016/17 revealed that for the first time, Science & Technology University of Iran, Amirkabir University of Technology, and Shahid Beheshti University are standing next to Sharif University of Technology and Tehran University in QS ranking system and have entered the list of 916 universities of the world ranked by QS.

QS provides annually Updated listings of the top universities in the world. This system assesses over 3800 universities in the world and ranks over 900 ones. Based on six performance indicators, the QS World University Rankings helps students make informed comparisons of leading universities around the world.

• Academic reputation (40%)
• Employer Reputation (10%)
• Student to Faculty Ration (20%)
• Citations per Faculty (20%)
• International Faculty Ratio (5%) and International Student Ratio (5%)

In QS World University Rankings 2016/17, Sharif University of Technology has risen from 471-480 band (2015-16 QS Ranking report) and has entered into the 431-440 zone, while Tehran University is still in the same 551-600 band.

Science & Technology University of Iran, Amirkabir University of Technology, and Shahid Beheshti University are 3 new entrants entering immediately into the 491-500, 501-550, and +701 zones respectively, revealing a significant improvement in academic excellence of the country.
