Secretary General of D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation visited ISC

Prof. Mehrad, President of ISC, invited Dr. Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi, Secratery General of D8 Organization for Economic Cooperation to Visit Islamic World Science Citation Center and signed a Scientific Research Memorandum of Understanding on July 3-4, 2013 in Shiraz.
In this visit, Vice- Minister in Research Affairs of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, I. R. of Iran and chancellors of the universities that signed MOU with ISC were presented in the meeting.
This meeting was held with the aim of taking advantage of available opportunities to deepen international cooperation between D-8 universities.
In the meeting, Dr. Mousavi while presented a brief history about D-8 establishment and its objectives, asked the present universities to express their viewpoints with regard to cooperating with D-8 universities for scientific promotion. In this regard chancellors of the universities discuss their suggestions.
Dr. Mahdi Nejad Noori, Vice- Minister in Research Affairs of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology while expressing his satisfaction of holding the meeting, stated that: the universities must provide suitable facilities for each other and improve their scientific relationship and secretariat of D-8 by establishing a joint committee for scientific and technological cooperation can develop and promote relationship between the universities of D-8 countries.
At the end of the meeting, a MOU was signed between the president of ISC and secretary General of D-8, the articles of which are as following:
Article 1 Both Parties agree to cooperate in providing appropriate grounds to establish ISC Branch Office in D-8 countries.
Article 2 Both Parties agree to cooperate in providing favorable grounds to develop the growth of science in the D-8 countries, among others through ensuring optimum cooperation among scientists in the member countries, and producing effective policies in the field of science and technology in D-8 countries.
Article 3 Both Parties agree to cooperate in benefitting from available scientific facilities at universities, higher education and research institutions of D-8 countries, with the aim of citation analysis and measuring research performances to identify the strength and weaknesses of scientific and technological efforts of D-8 members.
Article 4 Both Parties agree to cooperate in supporting education, research and scientific activities related to scientometrics in D-8 countries.

Article 5 Both Parties agree to cooperate in holding workshops on ISC as a scientific citation network for D-8 countries.
Article 6 Both Parties agree to support cooperation between universities and research centers in D-8 countries.
Article 7 Both Parties agree to cooperate in introducing ISC’s scholarship plan to D-8 Countries.
