The Reasons of not Holding IFLA in Iran

Prof. Dr. Mehrad President of Regional Information Center for Science and Technology (RICeST) stated that IFLA(International Federation of Library Associations)
Annual Conference is not held in Iran, because of the following reasons:
1- Few number of information and library organizations in Iran.
2- Inappropriate management of the most academic libraries.
3- Few number of organizations that pay their membership fees to IFLA regularly.
4- Few number of non-Persian language publications in the fields of Library and Information Sciences.
5- Innovation in Library and Information studies in Iran is low.
6- Inappropriate outputs and performances of some Library and Information Science groups have negative effect on developing this field at international level.
7- Lack of scientific relationships between librarians and researchers of Iran with the other world universities and research centers.
8- The necessity of cooperation between Iran Library and Information Science Association and Med LISA to provide suitable grounds for holding IFLA in Iran.
