Times Higher Education (THE) system has changed and reconsidered its criteria and indicators in 2010.<br/><br/>Dr. Jafar Mehrad, president of the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology, said that the major modifications in Times Higher Education criteria and indicators have been done with the aim of increasing the balance and clarity in ranking the world universities.<br/><br/>

He affirmed that the world countries are interested in establishing high-rank universities and consider them as a main component of economic policies. Nowadays, governments are increasingly using university ranking systems for making national policies.

Dr. Mehrad stated that the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking system assumes that by revising its criteria and indicators it can introduce universities that represent the three main tasks of Training, Research, and Dissemination of Knowledge most efficiently.
