Election of Dr. Mehrad as one of the Higher Education Professional Authorities for Ranking World Top Universities

Head of the Office of International Scientific Cooperation in the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology said that ranking university and research institutions of Iran is being performed in the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC). Ms. Najmeh Hamidifard declared that ISC will pronounce the results of ranking university and research institutions by the end of November, 2010.

The Calculation of H-INDEX in ISC Database

<br/>Declaring the input of 80 thousand research documents into ISC database, Dr. Jafar Mehrad, the President of ISC, revealed the ability of ISC in computing “H-Index” as a modern scientimetrics indicator in assessing the science production as well as the scientific impact of individuals based on ISC data. H-Index is calculated based on the distribution of citations made to a researcher’s published documents. This indicator could also be used for assessing a small faculty group of a center or university.
